About Me

Richard Cameron – Principal, Duclos School

Duclos Students SHINE!

It is wonderful to have your family with us at Duclos School. Duclos School is proud to be part of the Bonnyville community for over 100 years.  I was so happy to have been part of the celebrations for the Duclos Centennial in 2016.  My family has attended Duclos School for generations.

I was born in Bonnyville and raised on farm in the Muriel Lake area, maybe you have heard of Cameron Corner?  Cameron Corner is named for my family, who have lived in that area since the 1930’s.

I graduated from Bonnyville Centralized High School, then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton to get a Bachelor of Education degree. For over 15 years I taught students mainly in grades 4, 5, and 6.  Later in my career I went back to university to get a Master’s Degree in administration from Royal Roads University in Victoria, receiving my degree in 2005.

I have been teaching and working in schools as an administrator for over 30 years.  I was a teacher at Duclos for eight years, and have been the principal of Duclos School for seven years.  It is so gratifying that most of career has been here at Duclos School.

The staff at Duclos School works together with all of you to create school that is safe and caring, with many opportunities for students and staff to SHINE!
