I am very excited to kick off a new school year with your child. This year will mark my second year as a Teacher! I look forward to a very exciting year and my door is always open if you have any questions or concerns. Please check in at the office as they need to know who is in the school.
As you pay your child’s school fees, I will be able to give your child their school supplies (including agenda). We will be labeling everything that your child receives. If you would like to help with this ominous task of labeling everything that your child receives, you are more than welcome to come and help.
Throughout the first few weeks, I will be spending time setting up classroom routines and we will be getting to know each other and the rules of our school. Spelling will start in a month or so. Spelling tests will be every Friday (or Thursday as need be).
Reading matters. The more we practice doing something correctly, the better we become at it. Please encourage your child to read at home. Grade 4 students are expected to read for 20 minutes a day with that increasing over the year. Please have them record it in the pages in their agenda. We will keep track of the total every Friday (or Thursday if it is a no school Friday).
We do have a microwave in the classroom for the children to warm up their lunch food. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be the girl’s days. Tuesday and Thursday will be the boy’s days. This way our microwave lineups are more manageable. We also have a kettle if your child needs hot water (for noodles?). Healthy morning snacks should be able to be eaten cold. Please try to label your child’s items that come from home. I always want to be able to return a lost item to the rightful owner.
Our fundraising efforts this year go to help pay for the coach buses that take us to Fort Edmonton in June (and yes! We want you to come too!). We will need your help to run our hot lunches when they are scheduled. We will ask for your help when we need it. I will be sending a note home, whenever I need to share something with you. If you have any questions, do ask.
