A New Year in 3LG with Ms. Jennifer Lawton-Godziuk
I am so excited to get to know my 22 new students!
I hope your child is looking forward to a fun year of learning and sharing new experiences. This is my 23rd fall since beginning my first teaching assignment at Duclos in 1994 and it's my third year teaching Grade Three. The language arts and math curricula build on what was learned in Grade Two, and the science and social studies topics are varied and very interesting, I find. The classroom library has undergone two full days of makeover and I hope your child will find lots of reading materials to interest him/her. If not, I will work with Mrs. Hornseth in our library, other staff members, and the public library's TRACPac system to get and do whatever it takes to get my students into reading! My teaching style includes lots of discussion and sharing of feelings (at each person's comfort level); movement to keep our brains and bodies alert; lots of reading from a variety of fiction and non-fiction picture and chapter books; music, jokes, and memes to keep us thinking and laughing together; and food, since I love to cook and share that passion of mine with my students!
I try to have open and frequent communication with my students' parents via email, the Remind app, the school agenda book, updates on this page, monthly calendars, and notes. Calls during classtime interrupt the flow of lessons and classroom management so please leave a message with one of our trusty administrative ladies to give me during the next break. I look forward to working with you to help your child develop steadily in all areas of development and SHINE in her/his own unique way.
