3LG with Ms. Jennifer Lawton-Godziuk
Marching Into Spring
3LG has learned to work with each other in small groups and partners very well! It’s so pleasant to have substitute teachers say that they enjoy being with our class. :)
Our Core Subjects:
Language Arts: We have set individual goals and are reading a lot. We’re learning to be more efficient in finding information and understand what we read. Our Writer’s Workshop is going quite well and we are concentrating on editing and revising our pieces.
Math: We’re completing the subtraction unit; please continue to practice at home. Next will be multiplication and division. With all of our work on skip counting, we should do really well with this!
Science: Our Hearing & Sound unit has lot of experiments, building of noisy devices, and many everyday applications. Ear safety and how our hearing changes with age are also parts of our learning.Social Studies: We’ve been studying Peru in detail, finishing with Services. From there, we will compare Canada and Peru to other countries.
Report Card #2 will be sent home on Tuesday, March 21. Please visit the Duclos School website to book an interview with me. I'd love to have special time to talk with you about your child's growth and next steps. It is your choice if you would like your student to attend or not; some parents prefer a private conversation with the teacher and some like to have the student there to see us all working as a team for his/her benefit.
Important Dates to Note:
Hot lunches on March 16, and April 27 if you can come to help any of those dates. 11:15-11:30 are good arrival times. For the hot dog sale in April, there is an opportunity to contribute food if you aren’t able to come in to cook, assemble, and deliver hot lunch that day.
March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day and we’ll be learning a bit about the history of the day, doing some graphing, and having a few green snacks. Bring your own main course.
Our rescheduled ski date is coming up on Monday, March 27 with 2T and 4M. I hope we will have nice soft snow and a comfortable temperature to reward us for waiting patiently for our turn at Kinosoo Ridge!
Feel free to contact me via email or Remind messaging if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to continuing to work with your student and with you.
